Duration - 2 Hours

Start Time - 7pm

When night falls in the city and mist settles in the streets, London becomes a very different place. Londoners of old rise from their slumber and the spirits of the past return to haunt the living, but it’s not just the dead that you need to fear. For every patriotic hero, there must be a villain and London has certainly had its fair share of those.
Join us on our Ghost Tour of London as we explore the darker side of this city in the dead of night, encountering serial killers, gangsters, and monsters, both malevolent and murderous, who have risen from the shadows to find infamy on these streets.
Led by our expert guides, the Free Ghost tour will take you on a journey round hidden corners and eerie streets, where tales of ghoulish apparitions, dark stories, and unsolved murders await you. Brace yourself for a mix of mystery, history and a touch of the supernatural.
From unsolved murders to haunting crimes, your free tour guide will paint a picture of the past, bringing these shocking stories to life. But fear not, as we aim to provide a fun and thrilling experience throughout the tour. Your ghastly guide will balance the creepy atmosphere with humour and engaging storytelling.
Our Free Ghost Tour begins in the shadows of Cleopatra’s Needle, believed to be one of the most haunted sites in London, where ghosts and apparitions are regularly spotted diving into the Thames. Your Ghost Tour guide will regale you with tales of Samuel Gilbert Scott’s bizarre death on Waterloo Bridge, and the reign of terror of a Victorian serial killer, who’s identity remains a mystery today, The Thames Torso Murderer.
At Banqueting House, you will learn of the execution of King Charles I, whose death sent shockwaves through Europe and spawned thousands of ghost stories that still terrify people 350 years later. After a sinister stroll through St James Park, where a woman in red searches for the soldier who killed her, the Ghost tour will end in Green Park, home to the ‘Lady in Grey’, a decapitated soldier searching for his head and a wronged fiddler, to name just a few.
Be you sceptic or believer, all are welcome on our Free Ghost Tour… if you dare. Book your spot now and prepare for a brilliant night of spine-chilling tales and unforgettable memories!
Or if you fancy something even more sinister, then why not check out our Jack the Ripper Tour?

Meeting Point - Cleopatra's Needle
We begin next to Cleopatra's Needle, just around the corner from Embankment underground station. The station is on the Northern, Bakerloo, Circle and District line, and around a 10 minute walk from Waterloo Station and Temple Station.
We recommend arriving 10-15 minutes before the tour starts, it gives you plenty of time to meet the guide and grab a coffee or ice cream!
Yes! Our free walking tours of London are operated on a pay-what-you-like basis. There’s no booking fee or upfront cost. The amount you tip at the end is based on your enjoyment of the walk. We aim to show London to anyone who wants to learn, and this way keeps it accessible to all.
We do recommend booking your spot ahead of time, especially in busy periods like weekends and holidays, as our tours are very popular.
At London with a Local, our guides are real Londoners with a passion for storytelling. Our guides aren’t actors with scripts, but individuals with experiences they want to share. With over 7,000 5-star reviews, a flexible tip-based system, and unique paths you won’t find on your own, we’re sure you won’t have an experience like ours anywhere else.
We run all of our tours on a pay what you think it’s worth basis. We've all had the experience of paying for an activity up front and then later on, feeling like it was not worth the money. We take that problem away. There is no booking fee for our free tours, and no payment is required before the tour begins. If you have fun then you can decide if you would like to tip your guide. The value is up to you, whatever fits in with your budget. This makes our tours affordable to everyone, regardless of their finances, but also incentivises our guides to never stop trying to improve, as the system rewards the guides who provide the best quality tours. Tipping is always voluntary and our guides will never pressure you into it, but this is their job so if you have had fun, we ask that you take a moment to consider what it was worth to you.
Yes please. The number of bookings we receive dictates how many guides we send to run the tour. If we have 100 extra people turn up, its not going to be a good experience for anyone. Please be aware, we do not accept groups of 8 people or more. Even if you book separately, if you attend the tour as a big group, you will be turned away. If you are a group of 8 or more please contact us to enquire about booking a private tour.
We'd be very grateful if you could cancel if you can no longer attend, as it could allow us to give your spot to someone else.
If its raining, we will get wet! We always recommend you carry an umbrella in London, the weather really is that temperamental, but if we didn't run tours in bad weather, we wouldn't get to do many. Rain or shine we will be there waiting. Of course, if you don’t fancy standing in the rain with us we understand.
Our tours are all walking, so we always recommend comfy shoes. Check the weather on the day of the tour, but we recommend bring a raincoat and some SPF just incase.
Absolutely, all pets are welcome on our tours!
Our tours all begin at different locations, but the guide will be at the meeting point holding a red umbrella. If you can't find them, you can give us a call on +447709703141.
All guides accept cash, sterling is ideal but they won't turn away other currencies! However we can't exchange coins here, so please do bear that in mind. Our guides also carry card readers, which you're welcome to use if that's easier for you!
Groups over 8, and any size school group, are not permitted on the public tours. If you'd like to arrange a private tour, please reach out to us on admin@londonwithalocal.com or +447709703141.
Our guides wait until 5 minutes after the tour start time before beginning, and usually do an introduction in the area before leaving. If you're going to be later than 5 minutes, please give us a call on +447709703141 and we'll see what we can do. We will always do our absolute best to get you to the tour, but unfortunately once the tour group has left the meeting point, we can't guarantee you'll be able to join the tour.

No, the more the merrier, but if there are more than 30 in a group, you will need to book 2 guides. If you have any questions about a private tour of London, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Absolutely. You are hiring the guide, not the tour. We will endeavour to customise your tour to suit your wishes. Some things are not possible. We cannot show you the Tower of London and Buckingham Palace in a 2 hour tour, they are just too far apart, but we will do our best to provide you with the perfect London private tour.
Yes, we will only book the guide once we have received payment.
Yes.

If we have to cancel for any reason, you will, of course, receive a full refund.

We run all our tours on a pay what you think it’s worth basis. There is no booking fee for our free tours, and no payment is required before the tour begins. This means they are accessible to every budget. However our guides are all freelancers and don't get paid to do the tour, if you have fun then you can decide if you would like to tip your guide. The value is up to you, whatever fits in with your budget and your level of enjoyment. This also incentivises our guides to never stop trying to improve, as the system rewards the guides who provide the best quality tours. Tipping is always voluntary and our guides will never pressure you into it, but this is their job so if you have had fun, we ask that you take a moment to consider what it was worth to you.
